Our Story
Hudson Excavation Inc. is an underground utility and excavation contractor based in Brentwood, California. It began in the early 1990s as a small father-son company in the Bay Area. In 2014, Steve Hudson and Matt Larson partnered for continued growth, and today the company works across Northern California with union crews who hold PG&E Operator Qualifications.

Hudson Excavation Inc. got its start in the early 1990s as a small, father-son underground utility company in the Bay Area. The work was trenching and utility installation, and the reputation came from doing it carefully. As the company grew, so did the team and the list of places we could serve, until our work reached across Northern California.

In 2014, Steve Hudson and Matt Larson partnered to keep the company growing. That partnership gave Hudson Excavation the leadership to take on more projects while holding on to the way the business was built: take care of the crew and take care of the customer.

We are signatory with the Operating Engineers and Labor unions, and every employee maintains Operator Qualifications for PG&E and other utility work.
